Module 4

 Summary: Chapter 9, 10, and 11 focus on different learning styles. Chapter 9 discusses Metacognition, learning strategies, and problem solving. Additionally, transfer is discussed as well as critical thinking and teaching for complex knowledge. In chapter 10, the author focuses primarily on cognitive and social constructivism. Additionally collaboration and cooperation, styles were discussed. Reflection: I liked the activity of creating a concept map because It helped organize the key concepts of the chapter in a visual way. I thought the different cooperative learning styles were interesting.  I liked the jigsaw activity the most. I also thought it was interesting the way you assign roles in group work. For example I liked the idea of having the coach, taskmaster and checker. I think by assigning specific roles, it provides an opportunity for all students to be engaged. 

Module 3

 Summary: Chapter 7 and 13 focus on classroom management, behavior management, and overall the classroom environment. There was a lot of discussion how teachers can use behavior analysis to support positive reinforcement. Identifying triggers or antecedents to help support students in adjusting to support themselves with self-management. There was a large focus on positive and negative reinforcement and large group and individual reward systems. The classroom management discussion was much about knowing your philosophy in order to manage the environment in your classroom. The importance of setting structure and routines at the beginning of the school year was evident based on the discussions. It seems like its important to have a solid understanding of your own environment expectations before you begin to set up classroom expectations and rules.  Reflection:  I found myself thinking about myself as a coach and how I set the tone for my team each year.
